WHITAKER, Dave (Whit, Whitty, Davo, Poppa, Poppy).

26.04.1944 – 27.08.2026

It is with both sadness and relief that we announce that Dave passed away peacefully on Thursday, 27 August 2026 at Gracelands Rest Home, after a few days surrounded by friends and whānau reminiscing about good times. A much loved husband of Marie and cherished Dad of Hayley, and Jolie, Steve and Dave and brother of Rod and Malcy. Adored Poppa/Poppy of Ayla, Cael, Zane and Reef and of the now grown Hughes, Chote and Tardieu kids over the years. Loved uncle to nieces and nephews around the world and local adopted tamariki along the way. Thank you to all who have shared hugs, kind words, laughs and love with us during this time. A massive thanks to the amazing staff at Gracelands for keeping Dave comfortable and supporting us during his time with you, with a special mention to Sheryn and Jenny.

A celebration of Dave’s life will be held at Clubs Hastings, 308 Victoria Street, Hastings on Monday, 31 August at 1.00pm. Messages to the Whitaker Family, 8 Clydesdale Way, Frimley, Hastings 4120.
