STARTIN, Betty (Florence Elisabeth).
Betty passed peacefully at 97 years old on Thursday, 3 September 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Dearly loved wife of Arthur (deceased). Most beloved Mum of Jennifer, and adored Grandma of Dexter and Elisabeth and their respective partners. Best guardian to her dog Lennie, and treasured friend to many all across the globe.
Betty had a long and celebrated 42 years as a primary school teacher and carried her wit and penchant for knowledge all through her life. She was always kind, fair, and humble, and will be greatly missed, but her joyful legacy will continue through all those who loved her.
The family thanks all the staff at HB Hospital, especially Wards B3 and AT&R, for the love and care shown to Betty and her family in her final weeks.
We are all incredibly lucky to have known her. May she now be reunited with her husband, siblings, and cherished friends.
A service to celebrate Betty’s life will be held in the Beth Shan Chapel, 371 Gloucester Street, Taradale on Thursday, 10 September at 2.00pm, followed by private cremation.
